HRM Today Social Network

Is anyone on here making any money on their blog?

If so, how do you do it?
Do you solicit advertisers?
How does the payment work? Per click, number of subscribers, number of readers?
How much are you making? I know that is taboo, but I'm curious what the possible revenue could be.

I had someone recently contact me about possibly advertising on my blog but I'm hesitant. I didn't start blogging to make money (not that I'm against it) so I'm somewhat extra cautious about the idea. Especially since it's for a company I know nothing about from Australia. I'm curious as well about how others bloggers go about it.

I earn money on my blog by having an Amazon A Store, AdSense Ads and Cheezhead Ads. I have not approached specific companies myself, but I have approached (obviously) ad agencies.

Two "close to home" ways to pitch to advertisers on blogs can be seen on Punk Rock HR and HRM Today. Also, check out the little grey box in our "sponsors" section (right sidebar, scroll down).

Each agreement is different. Usually it's a per click or impression agreement. I don't make megabucks. I make enough to get a deep tissue massage or two every month. However, my blog isn't as big as others. I suspect as my blog grows, the ad revenue will grow. But who knows. I don't really focus on making money off the blog (but maybe I should....).

What about Heather Armstrong? :)

Nobody sustains wealth through just blogging. That is true. I think she is rich because of her blog though. I don't think we'd be talking about her today without her blog.

Yes, you can only get to a certain level from just blogging but certainly blogging can help you catapult and/or maintain your wealth. Is she rich from her blog? Probably not anymore. But she wouldn't have had the opportunity or been able to sustain her personal brand as well without it.

Here is a link with some suggestions on monetizing your blog. http://bloggin-ads.com/how-exactly-can-blogs-make-money

I recently attended a conference where there was a panel, apparently recurring which featured big money bloggers. Panel was John Chow of johnchow.com Jeremy Schumaker of shoemoney.com Stephanie Agresta internetgeekgirl.com and neil patel. Look them up for their ideas.
