WHAT IF REVISITED

I spent the month of August blogging around the concept of 'What if' exploring the possibilities in both work and Life. I got some great input from the blogging community as well, so I thought I would double back to this concept in open ended thought stream for an occasional visit.

Tonight's one of those "visits"!

One of my favorite interview questions to a prospective candidate is; What if you could do ONE thing over in your… Continue

Mark, I visited the University of Phoenix website and clicked on a link that said something about applying to be a faculty member. I sent in my resume with a cover letter and they called me for an interview a couple of weeks later. After the initial interview they hosted an all day assessment center with about 20 potential faculty. After that - they invited a dozen of us to go through a 5-week instructor certification course and to teach our first course along with a mentor. Once that what done I was cleared to teach on my own.

the instructor certification course was unpaid, but the teaching (even with the mentor) was paid. They issue contracts per course, which is pretty interesting.

Thanks for the note. Since I tore my ACL (playing soccer, of course) a few years ago, I haven't played much, mostly out of unreasonable fear of having to go through that hellish surgery again. I coached my older daughter for years and will start coaching my 5 yr old next Spring. Based on your Tweets, I can tell your daughter is a great player!

I'm not the jealous type, but I must admit I'm a bit envious that you're going to meet Penelope Trunk. Please let her know she has a big fan in Sacramento. She follows me on Twitter, along with thousands, so probably has no idea who I am. I leave comments on her blog from time to time and hope to get a response from her one day. She just always makes sense to me. Enjoy and please report back on the meeting!

I am considering starting a blog, but get writers block every time I sit down to start it. I follow people like you, Laurie, Rusty Weston, etc. for inspiration. Rusty asked me to write a guest blog weeks ago and I'm still trying to think of ideas...guess it's better to drop the perfectionism and just go for it!

Cheers,
Suzanne

Oh, and meant to tell you I like your blog! I've been a fan of Penelope Trunk's for a year or so. Her blog on Twitter is what got me started and I've met some great people, HR and others ,via Tweeting. The world is getting smaller every day:)
