Internet Makes Recruiters Wimps

The HR Capitalist claims that the internet has made recruiters into sissies.

Between 2004 and 2006 everyone had an email account and checked it regularly. All that you, as a recruiter, had to do was email a job description to potential candidates and you would hear back from them toot sweet.

Since 2007 everyone has more than one email address. And the email addresses on their old resumes are rarely… Continue

How Poaching affects productivity in companies

Poaching refers to the Management technique where an employee is entices or lured away from one employment to another by an employer.

This can be as a result of some special skills or knowledge that such employee possesses. And studies have shown that the reasons employees allow themselves to be poached include lack of constant training by organizations to world class standards. There is therefore need for Management of organizations to embrace training & development as a major… Continue

Tony Snow Teaches Recruiters

Kris Dunn learned this from the president's press secretary:

Critics should prove they can do better

Tony criticized the president's communication policy and was willing to step in to to fix someone else's mess when asked. (Don't criticize unless you can do better?)

If you're nice, your enemies will be nice, too.

Tony took the "high road" when he could have… Continue

Mix bag of nuts and bolts info

I would like to post something that I did not write but would like you all to read:

"Cinderella, a mud-shy piglet, was shod with four galoshes so she could overcome her fear and carry out her daily piggy responsibilities of wallowing and rolling. Cinders' owners were initially perplexed by the pig's reluctance to act like a pig, but

Bill Jenson, in his book, The Simplicity Survival Handbook, describes three essential components which provide new employees with the tools and resources they need without overwhelming them:

· homework

· two-way review after three months

Homework

The concept of providing new employees with information prior to their start date… Continue

A few things I'm suggesting to employers is, when the job description allows it, moving to longer workdays but fewer of them (5 day week to 4 day week), and allowing employees to work from home a day… Continue
